Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach

Akureyri departures

Departure from Akureyri airport

On the way to the Glacier lagoon, we head towards the highlands and manage to view parts of Iceland rarely seen from air and ground
as well. We´ll explore Bárðarbunga and Lakagigar, Iceland´s most ferocious volcanoes, that have truly shaped our history and will continue to mettle
our little island as the years come and go. We fly over craters, some more active than others and explore and learn about the power that lies beneath.

Before we get to the Glacier lagoon we fly on the edge of Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull. As we approach the Glacier lagoon we will land, so you can explore the area and get a closer look at the floating clear blue icebergs that have broken off the glacier's edge. Here you get the chance to see the Diamond Beach!

It is a short walk down to the beach but it is totally worth it.

The Diamon Beach is filled with large icebergs that floated away and were stranded at land due to the strong currents around this area. After the Glacier lagoon visit, we make a stop where it is possible to enjoy some refreshments while we refuel the helicopter.

On our way back to base we fly a different route to explore even more adventurous landscapes and complete our day completely in awe of Icelandic nature such as Landmannalaugar, Thorsmork, Eyjafjallajokull, and Haifoss to name a few.

This Helicopter tour has got it all and it combines some of our smaller tours with some new exciting locations.

Here´s a small recap of what you´ll see but this list does not nearly cover everything.

Icelandic highlands - The volcanos Bardabunga and Lakagigar - Glaciers such as Vatnajokull and Eyjafjallajokull - Colorful Mountains - Nature wonders like Landmannalaugar and Thorsmork - Magical waterfall like Haifoss - Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach.

Yet again, this list does not cover it all. This extreme helicopter tour is a journey of a lifetime and should be on your list of Things to do in Iceland.
